There is a show, on actual television, that is called How To Be Indie. It’s not even being ironic. It’s called “How To Be Indie”. It’s coming to ABC3 so of course I got giddy with excitement and googled the shit out of it.
How To Be Indie
As it turns out, it’s not a massive wank about teaching kids how to dress and act like you’re into indie music (big shame), but instead a massive wank about a girl called Indie who is just sooo independent and quirky that she does whatever she wants, DESPITE HAVING SOUTH ASIAN PARENTS!
Look out everybody! We have a girl with roots different from our own who is not afraid of standing out! I can just imagine the hilarious situations she must get herself into in trying to do whatever she feels like whilst antagonising both her parents and the in-crowd at school!

In other Indie news, by googling the phrase “How To Be Indie”, I came across some pretty funny (but let’s be honest, really helpful, right?) websites. The best was by far “How To Dress Indie” on WikiHow. I include some samples of their article for your perusal:

HOLY CRAP I JUST FOUND AN ARTICLE CALLED HOW TO BE AN INDIE KID WITHOUT KNOWING INDEPENDENT MUSIC. IT’S TOO BRILLIANT TO EVEN TALK ABOUT. JUST GO AND LOOK AT IT.
